Jared and I went on our first cruise and had a BLAST! We have had this trip planned for 6 months and were counting down the days. This was the first vacation Jared and I have been on together, without the boys, in 13 years of marriage. Wow! Jared's mom came out to watch the kids for us. We went with some great friends from Iowa, who helped us "first time cruisers" around. We left from Miami, which was great, because Jared served his mission, for our church, there 15 years ago. We went a few days early and stayed in Miami. This was the highlight for Jared. He got to explore again and visit people he has kept in contact with. We ate Cuban food (very yummy!) drove all around (thanks to the GPS in our rental car!) We visited the Bahamas and did some shopping at the straw markets. We spent one day on Coco Cay. I wasn't feeling well, but Jared went snorkeling (pictures to come). I spent the day improving my tan and relaxing in the warm sun on the beach. We also got to go to Key West. Neither Jared, nor I was very impressed with it, but we can at least say we have been there. When we were on the ship we spent our time, eating, eating, eating, eating, going to shows, eating, relaxing at the pool, eating, visiting, eating, rock climbing, eating, eating, and eating. We both came back a little heavier than we left. We had a great time, and can't wait to go again. Next time we want to take our boys. They would have a BLAST!

By the way, I have no IDEA what Mardi Gras is even supposed to celebrate. Is it just one big party? The cake looks cool though.
Awww, wasn't it awesome. The water is crazy blue. It makes me want to go on another cruise. I miss those warm evening winds that blow across the water. There is definitely something about the tropics that call to a person.
Way to go Jared, you have to have cruise wear! It looks like a lot of fun and beautiful places but there aren't very many pictures of you Hillary!!! Come on! That's neat that you got to go to Miami, I want to do that with Mat some day! Thanks for finally putting pictures up. Mom and I have been checking every day!
Hooray for the cruise pictures!!!! It's only been a week....they were worth the wait! SO FUN! You guys look like you had a blast!
I am so sad we didn't go, but seriously....next year will be the year! Can't wait. I'm with your sister...you need to take more pictures of the scenery with YOU in it! Next time I will do it for you!
OK, I am so jealous! Scott and I have wanted to do a cruise for so long! Maybe some day! I'm glad you guys had fun! That is awesome to have a vacay without the kiddos!!

Sounds like you guys had a blast! I am so jealous, I can't wait for a vacation without the kids, but I guess it will be a while. Now Eric and I are the only ones who haven't been on a cruise! I feel so left out....
Sounds like an amazing week! Good for you guys. I loved seeing your pictures and admired the blue sky in Atlantis. So happy you were able to spend time with Gwen and Gary. What a fun time for Jared to be able to visit special friends and places from his mission. What a great "shot in the arm!" Also, love the King Cake and history!

Aren't cruise vacations the BEST! Randy and I went on one before we moved to Iowa and we PROMISED ourselves we would do it again to celebrate the end of residency (when we have some $$). You better not wait another 13 years to do it again, I agree, your boys would have SUCH FUN!
