END OF THE YEAR

YEAH Summer is here!

Both Nathan and Joshua had a great year! Nathan finished 6th grade with a bang! He was one of 16 students to get straight A's the whole year! Way to go Nate. We are so proud of him. They had an awards assembly Sunday afternoon to honor all the great students. He is trying to be strong about moving, but I think he is really going to miss his friends!

Joshua had an awards assembly also. He made the A/B Honor Roll, got an award for Perfect Attendance, and also got the "Terrific Kid" award from his teacher Miss Bailey. We sure are proud of this kid! He has done great this year and will really miss his teacher. He is extra sad, because she is moving up to 4th grade next year and gets to keep all of the kids with her. She has been an excellent teacher for him.

Piano Recital

Nathan and Joshua had a piano recital last week. They both take from Kathy Norris. Nathan has taken for 3 years and Joshua for 1 year. This was their last recital with Ms. Norris and she was a little emotional when giving Nathan his awards. She has taught him everything he knows about music, and he was excelled with her. I can only hope we find as good of teacher in Alaska. We will miss her!

I posted these for Grandma's and Grandpa's, so enjoy!
Joshua played "The Weeping Willow" by Faber
Nathan played "Canario" by Von der Hofe

Disney World

Disney World with NO KIDS....a must do!

My Dad had a convention in Orlando, and so my Mom invited me along so she would have someone to hang out with. We stayed at the Dolphin resort. It was so nice to be so close to the parks and come and go as we pleased. I found myself wishing my kids were with me...but my Dad is as big a kid as they are. We had a great time, eating, playing, walking, sleeping, and shopping! It was a nice vacation!

FIELD DAY

Joshua had Field Day at school. It was HOT, but he still had fun....as you can see a little too much fun. I asked him why he had chocolate all over his face (he was eating a chocolate ice cream sandwich). He told me it was because it hurt his front teeth to bite into the icecream....guess that is a problem for the dentist in the family!

FYI: We really do have another son, named Nathan, but 6th grade just doesn't do anything fun, and blog worthy!

A week in the life of Josh.....

I picked up Josh from school this week, and this was what he looked like.......
He had gone on a field trip and made this lovely hat!

LOUISIANA DAY
The 3rd grade celebrated Louisiana. The served all sorts of Cajun food: gumbo, crawfish estoufee, jambalaya, red beans and rice, sausage, king cake, and lots more. Joshua said it was all too spicy. Guess he is not a true "Southern kid". They also had a man bring real alligators. One was alive, but the rest were in pieces. It was actually gross, but the kids loved it!
They had a Crawfish Boil for the kids. This video is of Joshua trying to figure out how to get the meat out, and me trying to coax him along. Like I said, he's not a true "Southern Boy"!

We had a VISITOR!

My Mom came to visit for a week, and this is the only picture I took.......... CRAP!

We had SO much fun with Grandma here. Jared was out of town, so we got some great "girly time" in. We shopped, shopped and shopped some more. She had to take an extra suitcase home with her (not all her stuff, some was hand me downs for nephews!) There really isn't a lot to do here in Bossier City, Louisiana. We ate, ate and ate some more. We went to movies and watched a lot of TV. We took the boys out of school early on Friday and went to see "Rio" (so cute) and then to the Olive Garden (hence the picture). We played and played and played. And "Real Life" begins tomorrow. Thanks Mom for a great week!
