We live next to Red Chute Bayou (1/2 mile), which usually has very little water in it, but not this week. City workers, police, National Guard, Military, Prisoners , and many more have been working non stop, sandbagging, to save our neighborhood. Friday, things started to get tense... I started to worry and called Jared and made him come home. They were telling neighborhoods close to ours to prepare to leave within 2 hours. I needed Jared home! After talking to people and thinking things through, we thought we would probably be okay! Well, Saturday, we stayed home and hung out, walked around the neighborhoods to get pictures and see what all was happening. Saturday night while we were at the church Trunk-or-Treat, we got a call from Homeland Security with an advisement to evacuate. We hurried home. There were cops driving through the streets with sirens and lights flashing, giving warnings. We ran in the house and started packing. We hadn't been home for very long when a cop banged on the door and told us we needed to leave quickly. I was trying to hold it all together for the kids, but I finally broke. We packed up all we could get in the cars and put everything up as high as we could in the house. We left, thinking we would come home to our house under water! Luckily, the levee has held so far. We are home again, but still watching every movement! My headache is now going on 4 days, but the kids are finally back in school today after a 5 day weekend! Now I have this too look at.....

We didn't have the greatest of Halloween's this year, but we did celebrate a little bit. I told the kids, it will be a Halloween we will never forget!

Where is the picture of the house with the water coming up to the yard? I bet you found some fun stuff hidden under things that where lost. We found lots of fun stuff when we packed up.
I did make the lego...cheap, that was what I was looking for. The house with water was on Coy Street, towards the pond.
I swear these natural disasters are following you! You need to move back to severly dry Utah.

Oh, my word! Hope that you are feeling a bit more calm. You deserve a very good foot rub....tell Jared! That flood stuff is crazy.....flood of 2008 and flood of 2009....it really follows the Cardons. Maybe we won't buy the house next door someday!

For sure I am going to be a lego next year for Halloween, send it my way!!! I wish I could make the pictures bigger, but it looks crazy. Glad you are ok and the boys are back in school. If you want to come back to Utah, I have an opening in my 5th grade class for Nate and Kaylee said she would love for Josh to be in her class! I'm just sayin!
P.S. Kaylee drew a picture of a mad scientist and she said it looked like Nate! She wants to send it to him. Now only if her mom can get her act together and get to the post office before it closes!
I'm so glad everything is getting back to normal. It was such a scary weekend wasn't it? Hey, your house looks like mine, isn't it great living in chaos?!? The good news is all the furniture was out of the way so I was able to mop my floors today! LOL
