The Waiting Is Over!

Drum roll....... and the location is Louisiana! Shreveport, to be exact. I know a lot of you were holding out for England, but you can still come visit us in Louisiana. Yes this isn't the most exciting place in the U.S., but I am sure we can find something fun to do, even if it is just eat all the yummy southern cuisine. We are actually very excited to be moving there, because it was our only state side choice. I never thought I would call the south home, and it definitely isn't a place I am sure I will fall in love with, but we will be on U.S. soil. We are looking forward to the WARM weather, well at least in the winter, and the yummy food. We will actually only be 3 hours outside Dallas, so that should be fun! We will be moving the first on July. I am a little worried about schools for the boys.... but we will do some research and come up with the best option. Now the waiting game is over and we can actually start planning. Hooray!

What do you do in Iowa when it is 25 degrees and sunny....

Kids: play outside for hours and hours..... pulling each other around on the frozen lake

Dads: play with the kids and the dog, for hours and hours..... on the frozen lake

Moms: stay inside where it is 69 degrees and take pictures through the window of the kids and dad outside

What a great day!

OPRAH!!!

Some friends and I made a quick trip to Chicago this week to go to the "Oprah Show". This has been a dream of mine and it was WELL worth the trip. I got tickets last week, and invited my friends, Alison, Jen, Michelle, and Gwen, to go with me. We left Monday night at 8:00, pulled into our hotel at midnight, got up at 5:00, and arrived at Oprah at 6:00. It was awesome. We saw two tapings, one with Valerie Bertanelli (airing Monday) and one with William Shatner (airing Tuesday). We even got the Star Trek, Season one, DVD set.... Wow! We were done by 11:00, stopped at California Pizza Kitchen for lunch and got home at 5:00. It really was a whirl wind trip, but the "Oprah" experience was awesome! FYI: I was in bed at 8:00 that night and slept like a baby.

Will You Be My Valentine?

Happy Valentine's Day!

The boys were excited for their Valentine parties at school. They had their Valentines done early at home and were very anxious to take them to school. They both had a great time passing out their cards to their friends and teachers. They ate TONS of sugar and brought TONS home.... yeah, just what mom needs, chocolate sitting around the house! Jared and I went out to lunch and then later that night we had chocolate fondue with the kids. Jared surprised us all with gifts and cards (even the kids). He is a winner in our books! It was a fun day!

FISH UPDATE

Okay, I am not sure if our family is ment to have fish.....Since Wednesday, we have had two fatalities, sad cries with crocodile tears, two tragic funerals in the bathroom and two trips to Walmart to buy more fish. The fish bowl currently has 2 fish, and they are still alive! Wish us luck!

Cardon Family Goes Tropical.....

Meet "Rocky" the fish and "Pirate" the hermit crab. We have added two new "pets" into our family. We feel a need to add some beachy, tropical culture to our cold Iowa winter...

Actually, Nathan has had the hermit crab for a while, which has caused Joshua to be a little jealous. We told Josh that since we were moving soon, we should wait to get him a pet. Last night, Nathan had his Scout dinner and for decorations they had gold fish in bowels on the tables. When it was over, they said anyone could take the fish home. Well, Josh wanted one really bad, but mean Mom and Dad told him "No". He started crying a "very sad" cry and one of the scout leaders, kindly handed him one. So what was I to do..... He was SO excited. Tender hearted me, said okay, and even made a trip to Walmart on the way home to pick up a fish bowl and food. All I can say is he is in heaven! Nathan on the other hand is now a little jealous of Joshua. I guess there can never be a happy medium.

What is there.....

I keep getting comments like, "You need to update your blog" and "Put some new pictures on your blog." Okay, listen, there has not been anything exciting happening in our family...and actually since the last post we have had many more "terrible, no good, very bad days"! Jared told me I need to quit complaining and enjoy the last few months we have here in Iowa, so this is it, no more! I am now only going to look for the good!!!!

On another note, I am sure all of you love enjoy all the art work and stuff that comes home from school. My fridge is always plastered with projects and the boys are always reminding me to take pictures for their scrapbooks. Joshua has brought home two fun projects lately, so I decided to share.... The first is a story he made up and his "reading buddy" wrote down for him. The second is his interpretation of our family, and I must say he portraied me accurately on some days.
