Our Ice Skating Adventure....

We decided to take the kids ice skating for New Years. We were all excited. This would be the first time for Jared, Nathan, and Joshua, so I was sure I would out skate them all. Let's just say, I am not as young as I used to be and I totally forgot what it was like to be on ice skates. I did okay for about 10 minutes, and then I did a nice graceful belly flop. My knee hurt and I had a nice hematoma on my wrist. I sat down and decided that my skating experience was over. After taking pictures, I headed to Target while the boys had fun. Now, as for the boys, they did great. Nathan is a natural. He took right to it and I hardly saw him fall at all. He had a blast. Joshua struggled, but wasn't scared at all. He would skate, fall, and then get right back up and try again. Between Jared, and a nice lady and her daughter, Joshua was covered for lessons. He informed me after he was done, that his "bottom was bruised for sure". Jared also did great, and of course didn't fall once. He was so patient with the Joshua and helped him the whole time. By the end Jared, pretending to be 18 again, was skating in and out of people going as fast as he could. The boys have decided that they want to do it again, but mom will be sitting the next one out.

What? No pictures of YOU!! I would have paid $ to see your belly flop. Glad you could go do that with your family on this nice, warm Iowa day. I love the pictures of "The Cardon Hockey Team." Awesome!

I was reading my blog and it said that you left comments at 6:54 in the morning. What were you doing up that early?

Love the pictures. I felt the same way on skates. Why do husbands always make it look like they can do things so easy and we struggle. I am that way with everything-ice skating, skiing, waterskiing and Tom seems like he never skips a beat. Oh well

Hey-sounds like your ready to come visit us and try out the Kearns Olympic oval. Maybe we could rent some speed skates for you! Your pics on the new camera are great. Are you using photoshop for the layouts? Have you ever tried any digi scrapbooking kits-so fun and addicting. I'll have to post some layouts on my blog.

Okay Hillary, I probably would have opted out for TARGET too, I love that place! I haven't been on skates in at least 10 years, and I'm pretty sure that my experience would be quite similar to yours...
