We live next to Red Chute Bayou (1/2 mile), which usually has very little water in it, but not this week. City workers, police, National Guard, Military, Prisoners , and many more have been working non stop, sandbagging, to save our neighborhood. Friday, things started to get tense... I started to worry and called Jared and made him come home. They were telling neighborhoods close to ours to prepare to leave within 2 hours. I needed Jared home! After talking to people and thinking things through, we thought we would probably be okay! Well, Saturday, we stayed home and hung out, walked around the neighborhoods to get pictures and see what all was happening. Saturday night while we were at the church Trunk-or-Treat, we got a call from Homeland Security with an advisement to evacuate. We hurried home. There were cops driving through the streets with sirens and lights flashing, giving warnings. We ran in the house and started packing. We hadn't been home for very long when a cop banged on the door and told us we needed to leave quickly. I was trying to hold it all together for the kids, but I finally broke. We packed up all we could get in the cars and put everything up as high as we could in the house. We left, thinking we would come home to our house under water! 
Every year the boys elementary school does a Pumpkin Night Light. Each class has a themed display with pumpkins that parents help with. The kids decorate the pumpkins and the community gets to come out and view them that night. Joshua's class was #2 Conkle Ct. (Christmas themed) and Nathan's was Hamilton's Home Run Hitters. It was a great night filled with food, singing, lots of blow up jumpers, and pumpkins everywhere.
